Pedro Almodovar Caballero born at Calzada de Calatrava, on September 24th 1949 is an actor, filmmaker, and a Spanish screenwriter. Though his year of birth is uncertain, it is sometimes touted as 1949 and sometimes as 1951 but the official website of the filmmaker, however, says that he was born in the 1950s.
Almodovar was from a middle class family, who made their living with a below average income. He could not do a professional course on film making because of the lack of enough money. Before directing movies, he was working in an official state telephone company. He was a stage actor of avant-garde and a singer of a rock band and also used to make cartoons, that is, drawing comics. After he entered in the world of cinema, he was the first and the only Spaniard director to be nominated for an Oscar for the best director award.
